Songwriting Camp
Class description:
Work with Matt Gagnon from Warner Music Group to learn about song structure, melody, lyrics and chord progressions. Meet online on Saturdays for five weeks learning to improve your songwriting ability in a masterclass setting with other like minded songwriting fanatics. Only 6 spots open to students to maximize attention and learning.
Students will be given songwriting prompts and homework each week to complete and prepare for the following week. Matt will produce each student’s finished song to an industry standard and students can choose to either record their own vocals at home (proper recording equipment is recommended) or book a 1 hour studio recording session in a professional studio to capture the best vocals to lay down on their new song.
In addition, students can opt for our Music Video Bundle to film a professional, 2 camera, black and white music video. Full camera crew and make up artist included.
Finally, students will have the opportunity to perform their finished songs live at the Santa Monica Farmers Market on August 13th for friends and family.
Finished songs will be delivered to students by August 19th.
This is a very specialized camp and ideal for students with several years of musical training behind them with a passion for songwriting. Recommended age: 12+
Teacher Credentials:
Matt Gagnon is a Frost School of Music graduate in Music Business, with a heavy focus on vocal performance, songwriting, and production. After working as a songwriting and vocal teacher for LJMA between 2020-2022. He then accepted a full time job at Warner Music Group in Los Angeles. He currently offers online weekend summer classes in Songwriting and Music Business for LJMA.
