BANDS

Class description:
Created as a supplemental performance opportunity for select intermediate students enrolled in private lessons at LJMA, Band gives young musicians the chance to take their skills beyond the lesson room and into a true band environment. Unlike traditional ensemble programs, the commitment is intentionally minimal—but the expectations are high.
At the beginning of the semester, each student receives professionally prepared charts and customized sheet music, prepares the requirements during their private lessons, and then arrives at the first rehearsal fully memorized and performance-ready. Just like in the professional music industry, rehearsals are for refining the performance—not learning the material.
Students then spend one intensive week rehearsing together for two hours each evening, culminating in a live performance at the Make Music Day Festival in Santa Monica on June 21st.
This immersive format teaches musicians how to prepare independently, collaborate efficiently, and perform with confidence in a real-world setting without requiring a heavy commitment schedule.
This invitation-only program is designed for select intermediate students at LJMA who demonstrate the musicianship, dedication, and readiness to thrive in an ensemble.
