LJMA BANDS
Class description:
When students have advanced to a confident level of playing or singing that is approved by the director, they are then eligible to participate in one of the LJMA Bands. Bands are offered at three different levels with different styles to suit each one. Bands will feature up to 1 piano player, 2 guitar players, 1 keytar player, and 4 singers (to sing both solos and background harmonies).
LJMA INDIE ROCK BAND
Our Indie Rock Band is our entry/beginner level band for those who have reached a basic level of proficiency on their instrument. In addition to their solo pieces, students will learn a 15-minute set of songs that feature simple chords and strumming patterns.
LEVEL: ENTRY/BEGINNER
LJMA 80s BAND
LEVEL: Intermediate
The LJMA 80s band is our intermediate-level band for those ready for the next step up. Members of the 80s band will learn a 15-minute set of 80s hits with chords, patterns, and rhythms that advance in complexity to challenge participating students.
LJMA SOUL BAND
LEVEL: ADVANCED
The LJMA soul band is our most advanced band for students who have reached a high level of both playing/singing and performing. Members of the soul band will
FINAL PERFORMANCE
Students in the bands will come together in the week before the final performance to rehearse the songs altogether. Then they'll perform the set they've worked on at the Santa Monica Make Music Day Festival!
