Are you stuck listening to Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter, and other pop princesses but don't know where else to turn?

 

This music appreciation class offers students a well-rounded exploration of contemporary and commercial music from the past 100 years. We’ll trace the evolution of genre, songwriting, and artistry — from the improvisational jazz of the 1920s to the vocal pop of the Y2K era — highlighting influential artists each week.

Students will be exposed to new artists, receive extensive curated playlists to explore between classes, and have the option to complete light weekly homework to deepen their understanding. The purpose is to broaden students’ musical knowledge and appreciation while uncovering the roots and inspirations that shaped modern music. Super fun class and perfect for all who love to love music.
